This tofu is my go to meal any time I am craving something with a crunch. Growing up my mother cooked chicken everything. I was raised on chicken. I thought I’d never give it up. Surprisingly giving up chicken (and meat in general) was easier than I had imagined. These are great on pretty much anything. You can cook up some french fries and have them like “chicken”strips, put them on top of a salad, in a pasta dish, or even your favorite Buddha bowl, or simply eat them by themselves. However you prefer them, they will leave you feeling happy and satisfied.

Crispy Baked Tofu
Ingredients:
1 block extra firm tofu
½ cup nutritional yeast
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Directions:
Step 1: Wrap tofu in paper towels. Lay it on a flat surface with something heavy on top of it (I used a heavy book). Leave it for about 15-20 minutes so any excess water can drain from it. While you are waiting for the tofu to drain, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper.
Step 2: After the tofu is finished draining, unwrap and throw away the paper towels. Slice the tofu into thin long strips. Take a bowl or a plate (I prefer to use a plate so the tofu does not come apart) and mix the nutrition yeast, garlic powder and onion powder together.
Step 3: Coat each strip of tofu on all sides with the nutritional yeast mixture and lay onto the baking sheets. Put into the oven and cook for 30-33 minutes, flipping half way through (when I flip them I usually throw on some extra nutritional yeast for an added crunch to it).
Step 4: Let cool, and enjoy!
